Okay, I've got to run, but here are the notes I took while reading.

I will be back later tonight to discuss this!

SO MANY SPOILERS )

ETA: Okay, you guys, I just got back from a meeting of a professional organization in a field I'm trying to get into and I think it went pretty well and I met a lot of people, but what if I talked about myself too much and what if they didn't like me and what if I'm just not good enough and aaaaaaah so anyway, let's talk about FMA so I don't have to think about it.

FMA 107

Back when Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was just a twinkle in J.K. Rowling's eye, my friends and I predicted that the only way Snape could survive the series would be if literally everyone else died. In that scenario, the last two books would be called Harry Potter and the Final Battle and Severus Snape and the Graveyard at Hogwarts.

This penultimate chapter of FMA is called "The Final Battle."

_____ and the Graveyard in Amestris? )

This was some classic FMA. You know how if you stick your finger all the way inside your belly button, it feels like you're tugging at the center of your body? You know how FMA does that sometimes, only mentally rather than physically? This chapter was all about poking a finger right at the center of our brains, with all the vaguely squicky feelings that implies.

Spoilers )

Anyway. I'm waaaay behind on the anime, but I'm planning to catch up in mid-May. Definitely before the last chapter comes out in June.

This game. THIS GAME.

This game here, everyone, exceeded EVERY ONE of my expectations. I can't even begin to articulate how much I loved it. It was wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.

I mean, as you know, I am pretty much willing to embrace anything that says "Ace Attorney" on it. Lord knows I wouldn't have bought two volumes of those terrible, terrible doujinshi collections otherwise. I would have enjoyed this game even if it were just kinda eh. But did Capcom take advantage of that? No. No, they did not.

I would go so far as to say that this is the best Ace Attorney game to date. Yes, I think I would say that.

But there will be plenty of time in the future to talk about that. For now, here's my commentary on the final case.

I dunno, I don't really have much to say about this chapter other than that... )

The Viz translations are back to a six-month release schedule. Nooooo! But I guess I won't mind having new FMA to look forward to after June.

I'm going to try to finish Ace Attorney Investigations today, but definitely sometime this week. (Spring break wooo) Right now I'm on Middle, Part 3 of case 5. It's so damn good. So. Damn. Good.

This has been one of the greatest cases in the entire series.

Well, [livejournal.com profile] thickets and [livejournal.com profile] clodia_risa have been totally kicking my ass at Ace Attorney Investigations, but I finally finished the first case tonight! I'm going to post my reactions right now, since there are kind of a lot of them, and I don't know how long it's going to take me to finish the whole game.

I have been listening to Ravel's Bolero on repeat for the past few days. It's badass.

Oh FMA )

I have made a triumphant return to livejournal! Posting, that is, not reading--I never miss a day of all your lovely posts. ♥

Anyway!

I see what you're doing, FMA. )

I'm sorry, [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue; I know your instructions not to read this month's FMA were very clear, but I did it anyway.

More FMA

FMA:B 27 has been, perhaps, the most badass clip show ever conceived. I am not kidding here; the art is fantastic, the framing device focuses on characters that could always use more screen time, and one of the clips is the scene where Roy shows off his ridiculously godlike abs. It's brilliant. There are even new opening and closing sequences, which I love to itty bitty bits and am totally going to memorize the music to, like I did with Again, but UNLIKE Again, these sequences are unlikely to overshadow the episodes themselves. Not that they don't have their merits--check it out, my icon is from the new opener! :DDD

So while I'm talking about FMA, I might as well elaborate a bit on my original post about chapter 100.

When I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] clodia_risa the other day, she suggested that the FMA: Brotherhood people were only phoning it in until the storyline started to diverge from the old anime, at which point it would drastically improve. After watching this episode, which covers chapters 17 to 19, I suspect she's right.

I had a Chipotle burrito for dinner. I don't even like Chipotle all that much; it's their stupid new radio ad campaign that's getting me. I'm just driving along, minding my own business, when one of those ads comes on, and it's not like they're doing anything exciting; it's just guys talking about what they put in their burritos, and I'm all "mmm, sour cream" and the next thing I know, I'm like, oh god, I want a burrito. I am so mad at myself right now.

The new chapter of FMA is out! Even though the wait seemed shorter this month (as it does when you spend it marathoning the anime and then doing a full reread of the manga), it still couldn't come out fast enough. Oh, hey, according to an interview Arakawa gave, the ending is going to be a bit farther off than she was planning. Yay! So maybe it'll be more than a hundred chapters. Anyway, reactions to the new one!

Excellent, this chapter pissed me off in the beginning rather than at the end, like the chapters of FMA that piss me off usually do )

--NIGHTMARE FUEL AT THE THREE-MINUTE MARK

--Hawkeye's eyes are way too big. She reminds me of one of these things. I don't understand it at all; everybody else looks fine. Most of them even have necks now. Scar looks a lot older here than he does in either of the previous canons, though.
