You know how you went to bed last night? Well, I didn't. But I got my presentation done, so that's something! It turns out there is more to say about lapels than I realized even two days ago, so now it's a presentation about just peaked lapels on just men's suits in the sixth and seventh seasons of Law & Order, and it will go at least half a minute over the ten-and-a-half minute time limit unless I really rush through it or cut out Jack McCoy. So this is a problem, because I am pretty sure cutting out Jack McCoy violates some kind of law of nature. But at least it's done, and the outline for it alone is about four fifths of the word count for the paper I'm going to have to turn in, so this may end up being the easiest final paper ever.

Of course, I am also going to have to write a 900-word paper tonight after class. No idea what I'm going to talk about. Luckily the papers for that class sort of write themselves.

So I'm watching some vintage Law & Order, and it turns out that in the second-season episode where Jerry Orbach played a defense attorney, the name of the victim was Edward Cullen. I haven't read or watched Twilight, and it was still bizarre. Everybody was all like, "Everyone loved Edward Cullen! He was such a friendly guy!"

Yay new TV

The fight scene in the new episode of Death Note was insufficiently awesome. And they call themselves shonen. They should be ashamed. I did like how one would throw a punch and then the chain would send them both flying, though; I never noticed that reading the manga.

The end of the new episode of SVU made me aww. Also, I barely recognized Cary Elwes! I was so amused to see his name on TV.com's page for the episode, right after I'd finally managed to place his voice.

I totally watched SVU over the phone tonight with my MOM. It was the episode where Olivia came back, and by the way, I am definitely firing whoever wrote that episode for reasons I won't bother to get into here, but the point is that during the commercial breaks I was on my tirade about the other episode that aired a couple weeks back that my icon's from, and it's always exciting when my ranting reaches ears past [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue's. I mean, it wasn't a bad tirade. I really enjoyed the episode. There's just that one part that bugged me (aside from, you know, the part with the burns)--when Kathy called Olivia and they were walking in the park and Kathy was all like, "what happened to the stunner?" because HELLO, Kathy is clearly much cuter than Blonde Woman Dani Beck and the kindest thing that could be said of Elliot in the matter of Blonde Woman is that he was lonely and also perhaps insane. Also citing Elliot's maleness, my mom agreed. My mom's all right.

I did neglect (neither purposefully nor accidentally) to mention the discussion Kawcrow and I had following that episode, specifically the part where we decided Kathy and Olivia should hook up. Naturally, everybody's favorite Anger Management Duck would react upon finding out about it, in an episode appropriately titled "Elliot's Worst Day". I think my favorite thing about fictional characters is that I don't have to feel guilty about delighting in their suffering.

My mommy is here! We spent the last nine and a half hours watching the Law & Order marathon on TNT. Also, she insisted on doing all the cooking (except for the cream cheese wontons we had as a pre-dinner snack, which are my specialty), because apparently cooking a small meal for two is nothing compared to what she would have been doing if she had stayed home. We opened presents last night, and I got a decent amount of cash, this animated light picture sound machine thing, and the iPod dock/radio I wanted. It was pretty much the best Christmas ever.

Anyone else have a non-crappy Christmas? I hope you all did.
