Writer's Block: My Userpics

The icon that I believe was my first is, unfortunately, no longer among us. It was Shigure from the Fruits Basket anime, lying on his stomach with his head propped up in his hands, reading a book and kicking his feet, with the caption "I am le bored!"
octopedingenue made it for me. I'm not sure what happened to it, but the most likely explanation is that I took it offline to make room for others at some point, and then lost it in the Water Bottle Incident of 2005 with my old computer. It's sad, really.
EDIT: Why, thank you,
octopedingenue!

My current default icon, which I've had ever since the source image for it first came out twenty-six months ago, is really just a revamping of the previous default icon:

The keywords for the current one are "Hawkeye being pretty," because it's true, and because it was simpler than the old one's keywords--"Manga Hawkeye is just adorable"--plus it was listed in the Hs on the drop-down menu with all the other Hawkeye icons, instead of in the Ms.
The pink-and-yellow color scheme is the one I use for all my Hawkeye-related graphics. I stumbled upon it when I was experimenting with gradients on the source image that became the old default icon and discovered that the German flag gradient actually suited her incredibly well. It was much too dark and harsh on the eyes, though, so I desaturated it until it was pale yellow, pink, and gray, and then adjusted it so that there was only a hint of gray at the edge for the pink to fade into.
Why this icon? It's the perfect default--textless, neutral but pleasant, easy to match a layout to. Not to mention that icons are all about visual representations of yourself, and in fandom, a picture of your favorite character might be the best way there is to do that. Of course, if it's also true that people online imagine each other looking like their icons...well, if people are going to imagine that I look like Hawkeye, I won't complain.
