Well, I succumbed to fate and bought Super Mario Galaxy 2. A lot of the music is just slightly different from the corresponding music from the first game, which is a little uncanny valley, but it's still awesome. Every galaxy is its own little showcase of cleverness. I checked out the critical reviews last night with a little hesitation, but it turns out that they somehow loved it even more than the first one.

I hear the new chapter of FMA is out. I'm not going to be available tonight, so I'm kind of hoping it doesn't get scanlated just yet. While I'm here, though, I should mention for the benefit of those who haven't been keeping up: this will be the last chapter of FMA. It is ending this month. So if you fell behind during the Briggs arc or whatever (which, I would have too if it hadn't been for Armstrong), or were going to read it but wanted to wait until it was over, now is a great time to catch up. Something tells me the spoiler warning period is going to be short.

One of my coworkers a few cubes over is singing to herself. Why would you do that?

Fun stuff!

I thought I'd take a look at the VG Chartz article on the WiiWare games that came out today and, half an hour later, I'm playing Toki Tori. Sure, it's a fusion of my two favorite genres, but what's really selling me on it at the moment, on these first few easy levels, is the music. It's sooooooooo cuuuuuuuuute.

Anything to take me away from Super Mario Galaxy, at least, if only for a few minutes. I...I think I have a problem.

Oh, and those rumors of a U.S. Death Note movie had better be true this time.

So I get to work this morning, and there's a LINE for Wii Fit. Good thing we had over fifty of them, because the electronics guy told me that the one I was buying during my break at 10:00 was number 48 or so. The rest were gone by lunch. There were still a number of consoles there as of 2:00, though. But, yeah, I was kind of worried when I saw all the people outside the store, because I really wanted to get it before losing my discount on Friday.

I haven't taken it out yet, but only because I try not to turn on the Wii during daylight hours. I think the only other game I've bought on its release date was Apollo Justice. This is exciting.

Sorry in advance for the spam, but I've got things to say, and...more things to say. First on my list of things to say is that my birthday is this coming Friday, and my mom gave me a choice of birthday gifts: Guitar Hero III, or a new digital camera. So I guess I'll be buying Guitar Hero myself.

My new camera is a Canon PowerShot A560. I chose it because it was rated a Consumer Reports Best Buy--I don't really care about features too much, as long as I'm getting a decent camera and a good value, and my only non-negotiable criterion was that it had to use SD memory cards, so that I could use it with the Wii Photo Channel. I'm going to set a goal for myself of one new trick a day. My trick for today: black-and-white and sepia-toned pictures. Oh, man. I am never going to take a picture in color again, let me tell you. Every single picture I take from now on will have that old-timey flair.

Also, I alluded to this earlier, but OMG you guys, Guitar Hero is awesome. Make all the jokes you want about people who buy games for systems they don't even own, but I am so glad a member of my flist who shall remain nameless did.

Another item of note: My employer's headquarters is run by monkeys. I thought I'd make sure everyone was aware of this now, because I will be making many, many references to it during the holiday season.

Trials & Tribulations reaction post forthcoming. :DDDDDD

So I bought the first Phoenix Wright game today.

It is exciting.

Also, damn, I'm such an accessories whore--seriously, I buy some gadget, and then I spend the next several months buying accessories for the gadget. Using the gadget is great, of course (if it weren't, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place), but shopping for accessories is literally just as much fun.

Actually, I'm going to make a list right here.

...yeah. )

Anyway, one thing I've been seriously looking at for the DS is a skin. I've narrowed it down to these two. )

I've been thinking about this one for the Wii. I particularly like the matching Classic Controller skin.

Anyway, yeah, so Phoenix Wright. I'm working on the second (first? Is the first case a real case or a tutorial? Or what? Whatever) case, and I'm already having fun with it. I FORESEE GREAT THINGS IN MY RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS GAME. I'm going to have to hurry up and finish this so that I can get the next one before the third comes out.

Naturally, the temptation to make Death Note Miis was too great, and I kind of went nuts. Of course, this started weeks ago, when I first got my Wii. But it wasn't until tonight that I actually took the initiative to dig out my camera.

Yeah, I took pictures of the TV screen--L, Light, Misa, Near, Mello, and Matt )

But that is not all!

I swear this will be my last Wii-related entry for awhile.

I am posting to my livejournal FROM MY TV.

Or [livejournal.com profile] gweniveeve's TV, anyway. Whatever. This rocks.

So, okay, so today I worked in electronics, and at about 3:30 the specialist who was with me let me know that she had just put some Wiis on the floor. About five minutes later, I went on my break, took off my red shirt and put on my coat so that I wouldn't look like I worked there, and went back to electronics to buy one.

I think I may have gotten the first one. By about 5:00, they were gone.

I haven't played it yet, since I got home so late and was way too tired to do more than take it out of the box and look at it and anyway I do have roommates to consider, but. YAY.

As it turns out, when managers at my work have New Year's parties to go to, everybody gets to leave early. For me, that meant having enough time to drive to Athens to spend the night at [livejournal.com profile] clodia_risa's apartment, where tasty food, good company, and several hours of entertainment awaited me.

Anyway, it's decided: I need a Wii.

*is shot*
