FMA chapter 102
Dec. 10th, 2009 10:08 pmI have made a triumphant return to livejournal! Posting, that is, not reading--I never miss a day of all your lovely posts. ♥
Anyway!
I see what you're doing, FMA. You are trying to break my heart. Into millions of tiny, tiny pieces. Well done.
I can think of about five things wrong with Al's gateside conversation with himself. Lest you think this is hyperbole or a figure of speech, I will list them here:
-What is inside Al's body that's making him talk?
-Why is it saying all that creepy-ass stuff?
-Given the above, how do we even know that's really Al's body and not just something that the Truth created (in whole or in part)? People are talking about this on
hagaren_manga, and I was definitely wondering while reading the chapter. I think it's a valid concern.
-Why is Al's armor at the Gate and also with Ed? Is the Gate armor metaphorical? I was under the impression that, when you go to the Gate, your body literally goes with you. I guess we don't usually see what goes on in the place that the person at the Gate has just left, but that's what seemed to happen with Al originally, and with Roy in this chapter. I suppose it's possible that the Gate armor isn't really there, that it's in Al's mind or something (since the armor's not really his body, and therefore wouldn't necessarily go with him). I don't know.
-Al is all like, "Sit tight and I'll be right back!" I have a bad feeling about this.
Roy Roy Roy Roy Roy Roy Roy. Roy! :(
Now that that's out of my system, I feel that AUGH ROY I JUST WANT TO GIVE HIM A HUG.
...SERIOUSLY. I think I would rather be a double amputee than lose my eyesight. I want to have kids, but I'd totally give up my reproductive system and other non-essential organs if the alternative was losing my eyesight. My entire body? It's a little harder to say, as I'm not exactly sure what such a sacrifice would entail, but at the very least I would seriously consider giving it up before losing my eyesight. And to that end, I would really like to have a say in the matter of whether I am about to do something that might conceivably cause me to lose my eyesight.
In related news, I have a movie Roy plushie who is currently wearing a Santa hat. It is unbearably cute. I took a photo and everything.
I seem to remember Arakawa saying at one point that she does know what Scar's name is, and that it's relevant. Was kind of hoping it would come up in this chapter, but I guess not.
I like how the Truth is all, NONE SHALL PENETRATE MY DARKEST OF LAIRS, and then Mei literally just kind of drops in. She's still awesome.
Well, that was a depressing chapter. So, um, how about Brotherhood episode 35? Boy, my hero Armstrong's pretty amazing, isn't she? Yup. Next week's the episode when she kills General Raven in cold blood, which is only the second most awesome General Raven-related thing she does; the first, of course, is when she unabashedly cops to it to Bradley and then asks for his seat on Bradley's cabinet in the same breath.
