There were exactly two bad things that happened to me today. First, I quite literally nearly passed out walking from the parking lot where Paul and Meghan and I had just picked up my blanket and cooler to the bluffs above the Wabasha Caves, which involved climbing well over a hundred stairs (the first fifty or so of which I was carrying the cooler, which Paul took away from me when I started showing signs of fatigue) after we had been weaving our way through a ridiculously large crowd and walking through downtown St. Paul for quite awhile. Second, I was putting on bug spray and accidentally got some in my mouth, which occupied me for several minutes as I panicked because I had lost the feeling in my tongue and the right side of my lips.
Between going swimming at my aunt's house during her weekly pool party, spending the evening with two of my best friends from high school, paying less than market price for a kickass parking spot in St. Paul, and claiming a fireworks-watching spot with a beautiful view of the city that also happened to have a perfect view of the best fireworks display in the Twin Cities, this was the best 4th of July ever. The Taste of Minnesota fireworks get better every year. They ended the show with a bunch that kept booming after their light had gone out, which somehow was absolutely brilliant. Oh, and Paul taught Meghan and me how to play King's Corner, which is my new favorite card game, and not just because I won.
Also, I took three showers today.
