I just saw my first Doctor Who episode tonight! Very exciting. The episode is called Blink, and I watched it because I heard the weeping angels that appear in it had completely swept a "creepiest monsters of Doctor Who" poll, and Wikipedia told me that they operated kind of like the topiaries in The Shining, which I always thought was a very cool (if horribly freaky) concept--something that only moves when you're not looking. This is what they look like when they're coming after you, and this is the episode in question.

So, yeah, I watched it and thought the angels were awesome, and at the time wasn't scared by them at all, but now it's late, and I have to go to bed, and...I don't think I want to turn out the lights.

You know the Minnesota Orchestra concert that I wanted to go to so badly, it made me hyperventilate? Well, I'm going. With my mom. Kind of; our seats aren't actually together. But at least this way I'll be able to take advantage of those Tang martini specials without worrying about the drive home. Tonight I watched Close Encounters of the Third Friggin' Kind, which I hadn't seen before, in preparation. I figured it was either that or forty years of Star Trek canon. Oh well, I don't need to watch Star Trek to recognize George Takei's awesomeness. I'm so exciteeeeeeeeeeeed

The casing on my replacement laptop power cord has come off completely in the area around the plug, and is now shooting sparks. This might be just the opportunity I've been waiting for to get my computer's DVD drive replaced.
