Work hijinks
Jul. 17th, 2006 11:57 pm1. I worked in men's and shoes today. At one point, a guy came up to me and asked me whether we had long running pants, or any long pants to wear outdoors that had an elastic waist. Then he showed me the reason for his request. And that is how I came to know what a gunshot wound to the stomach looks like.
2. An hour or so later, I got called over to electronics to advise a woman looking for a CD. At first I had no idea why, as I was not working in electronics, but as soon as I started talking to her I realized that it was because I was, by default, the closing team's reigning authority in white people music. It weirded me out for about five seconds that my coworker had actually invoked it, but then the absolute hilarity of it all hit me. Seriously, this is so sad. I know almost nothing about popular music. Certainly all I know about Nickelback (the white people music in question) is that I liked How You Remind Me, that I kind of liked it a little less when it turned out that every single one of their songs sounded exactly like How You Remind Me, and that the video they made for one of their How You Remind Me clones is well-known in Death Note fandom. I was absolutely no help at all.
...Oh god, you would not believe how amused I am to be the default authority on rock music. This is so funny.
