What I Did On My Winter Break

eteq's Mojito @ Chino Latino, which cost him $13 for a good reason: it was fucking tasty.

So I had these friends in high school (the first one I went to) named Leiana and Sarah, and over the course of the next several years, we all independently happened to cross paths and become friends with Erik,eteq, who doesn't update his journal. He thought it would be clever to get us all together in one place. Also, he thought it should be last night. Fine with me, fine with Leiana and Sarah, but then it transpired that they also wanted to go to the informal reunion that said high school was having for the classes of 2000-2004, which I'd actually gotten an invitation to, but ignored like everything else they send me. So the question was: did I want to go? On the one hand, it had been years since I'd seen anybody who might be there. On the other hand, it had been years since I'd seen anybody who might be there.
Well, I went. Leiana and Sarah were there for a little while before Erik and I were, which meant that they could do nifty things like call us as we were arriving at Cafe Latte (I really wanted Chick-fil-A, but what are you gonna do in Minnesota oh God I want some crack-breaded chicken nuggets right now) and tell us not to get cake, since the reunion had the good kind of Cafe Latte cake for free, and then tell me when we came back to meet them thatsunsetscreamer and Noreen had just left. "Oh, darn, we should have told them to wait a couple more minutes!" said Leiana. So I didn't get to see them, but I did get cake! And I got to talk to some old friends, including Mahesha, who resident crackwhores will remember as the guy who IM'd me that one time and gave me a link to the Strong Bad con parody.
Afterwards, Erik and Leiana and Sarah and I went bar-hopping in Uptown with Andrew, Joe, and Marcus, a couple other people from that school. It was insanely fun and I got to hear some great stories (the only decent ones I could think of to tell myself were the one where I had to play flute in church while still drunk from the night before, and the one where the woman at Swinging Richards askedclodia_risa if our group was a lesbian foursome, and then when corrected, applauded us for being straight) and did NOT drive drunk, even though, thanks to Marcus' round of Jägermeister for everybody, it took a couple hours of our group wandering through Minneapolis and to Lake Calhoun for me to sober up enough. Actually, I was by far the most sober, though I did get an unfortunate case of hiccups that must have made me sound a lot drunker than I was to my dad, who called at about 2:45 to remind me that I had a doctor appointment this morning.
