An Open Letter to Math 101
Sep. 21st, 2004 03:02 pmDear Students in Ms. Schwarzlose's Finite Math Class,
Talking during class and not talking during class are two easy things. However, not talking is both slightly easier and much more respectful. If you have a question that can't wait and that your syllabus, book, and notes can't answer, raise your hand. No, really.
And to the girl who likes to read during class: Just because Ms. Schwarzlose does not embarrass you by calling attention to it does not make it any less appallingly disrespectful. There is no excuse for staring at an open Reader's Digest while the teacher is talking, no matter how cleverly you have hidden it behind the books on your desk.
Finally, I would like to state for the record that I am not actually a bitch. I'm sure you are all perfectly lovely people, and I'll only hold all of this against you as long as you keep doing it. In fact, a number of you have done nothing wrong and should feel free to disregard this entirely. I assume you all know whether this applies to you or not. And as always, I am more than happy to work with anyone who comes into the math learning support center for any reason.
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Neighborhood Math Learning Assistant.
