logicbuttonOkay, I'm on an IES computer and can't wait to have internet access on my own (if I can get it at all), because the German keyboard is driving me nuts. In other news, Freiburg wins at Europe.
In other other news, my room is awesome because I have a single (in a suite) with a TV(!) and a lofted bed. The bed is really comfortable and the duvet is brand new, although the ladder is perfectly vertical. Not something I want to be climbing down when I'm barely awake, plus it makes these noises sometimes like it's going to get ripped right off the bed. I'm told there's going to be a group shopping trip to IKEA tomorrow, which I just might have to go on, because this room is too damn big--tragedy, I know--not to have another lamp or clock. Or another set of sheets, because I can't use the sleep sack I brought forever and the sheets they provided are just gross.
At any rate, my time away from home has been so much better since I got here. You know how sometimes you go to the airport and the airline person tells you you can't get on the plane because your trip is too long and you don't have a visa? No? Well, now I do. She eventually gave me my boarding pass with an admonition to apply for a visa as soon as I got here. I have since learned that she was completely wrong. Apparently, only one other IES student in the past two years has had the same thing happen to them, so I don't know what this woman's problem was.
So anyway, I sat in the airport for three hours thinking about how much life sucked (I hadn't gone to bed the night before, so I was getting a bit dramatic). After that the trip to Frankfurt was pretty uneventful, although there was one memorable incident in which I ran frantically through the Chicago O'Hare airport, Home Alone-style. Actually, the trip after I got to Frankfurt was pretty uneventful, since it involved sitting in front of an information desk for five and a half hours waiting for the rest of the people I was supposed to meet to show up. But we did get to Freiburg eventually, and all in one piece.
Aaaand now I have to go. More later, and I'll make it more interesting.
