Apr. 19th, 2003 02:23 amAhhh, that's better. I like this font. It's the one I use on AIM. Californian FB...the best serif font there is. Anyway.
Right, I just saw Bridget Jones' Diary, and this has led to two things:
1. I will be thinking in a British accent for the rest of the night.
2. I will never again see a movie that does not have Colin Firth in it. I mean, what's the point?
-----Harry Potter Rant Forthcoming-----
Per implication #2: it certainly doesn't help that, ever since I read "Between Serpent and Wolf" on hearthrug.net, I haven't been able to think of Lupin as anyone but Colin Firth, especially since I absolutely adored the character--who, come to think of it, is exactly like Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones' Diary. This could change when Prisoner of Azkaban actually comes out and Lupin is played by an impostor...of course, I should probably give David Thewlis a chance, as my friends and I have not yet had a David Thewlis movie night. Gary Oldman night did wonders to assuage any concerns we might have had about his portrayal of Sirius Black, although we're still going on faith, obviously. Still, I'm more worried about the omission of Oliver Wood. My friend Lauren tells me that Sean Biggerstaff said on his website that he won't be in it, which led us to wonder if there would also be no Quidditch. Meg and I tried to figure out exactly how this would be possible, given the complexity of the plot, and our scenario was not happy. But anyway, I totally digress, and would like to state once again that Colin Firth has set up camp in my mind as Lupin, which means he's who I see doing all the stuff that Meg and I are having him do in one of the fics we're working on and probably will never post because it will never be finished. Argh.

Back to my life in the real world (and yes, I do have one...well, kind of)... it was the second time I'd seen Bridget Jones' Diary, the first time having been in a theater, and I had completely forgotten how adorable it was. Makes me think there's still hope for me.
On a completely different note, I'm a little bitter at the math department right now. The irony is, I'm also growing very attached to them. First they decide they want to pay me to help people with their homework, and make me extremely happy by giving me a job as a learning assistant in the math support center. Then they decide to make me feel thoroughly honored by giving me their end-of-the-year book award (for a first-year in a 100- or 200-level class) and a certificate to go with it. Also, they're some of the world's coolest people, as math teachers generally are. That's why I'm attached. However, I now feel like they've set some ridiculously impressive standard for me to achieve consistently for the next three years, and that's why I'm bitter. The bastards, that's probably why they did it, too. Oh well. I'm still smiling fondly as I type this.
Yes, I think that's all for tonight. Good night, and sweet dreams.
