(no subject)

Today I stood outside the math suite for five minutes debating whether to go in and actually talk to Dr. Lewin about My Future. It was either that or call my parents tonight and whine some more about how I have no idea what the hell I'm doing with myself, so eventually I went in and found the suite entirely empty, and a schedule that showed that all the professors were in class at the moment.

Two hours later, I actually got to talk to her. Rather than the conversation I was kind of worried would happen ("So where were you thinking you would like to go?" "...........Uh. I dunno." "..................." "............................"), I got some lovely advice and actually kind of bonded with her.

Bonded! With Dr. Lewin! And she kind of compared me to herself, like, said that it seemed that the things I like are the same as the things she likes, and mentioned that my comment in the end-of-semester course evaluation for her geometry class that if I ever became a math teacher, I would want to be like her was a great compliment. Which of course it was, because it was entirely true. The many of you on my flist who say you are bad at math are not as bad as you think you are; you just haven't had a teacher like Dr. Lewin.

Um.

I'm just glad the visit went well is all.
