The more I hear about other people catching it, and the more I hear about the symptoms and their progression, the more blatantly and embarrassingly obvious it becomes that the "viral thing" I had last month was, in fact, H1N1. Of course, the statistics that the CDC or whoever collects on the disease are never going to include me, because when I went to the doctor on September 2nd for the first time for anything other than a routine checkup since I was in elementary school, they told me that the clinic didn't test for H1N1, and that I should drink fluids and take lots of ibuprofen and hey, sorry you're sick because being sick sucks! Am I a little annoyed that I feel that I was essentially given the green light to go back to work (for half of) the next day carrying an international epidemic? Am I, perhaps, a little bitter that people (not many people, to be fair) laughed at me when I came in wearing a mask, which I did only with the intention of maybe protecting them a bit from the virus that knocked me flat on my back for two days even with lots of Motrin and gave me sporadic semi-conscious hallucinations for hours until the fever broke?*

Why no, of course not. I am merely mentioning it as a point of interest to connect to the news that now my brother has it. And he is a confirmed case. He'll be fine, which I gathered from the fact that he's currently staying at my parents' house, and not the hospital. I went over after work today and brought him a quick-read thermometer like the one that was my constant companion while I was sick, as a swine flu present.

I got some stuff done the other day that had been occupying a big chunk of my headspace, so now maybe I'll have more time to clean the apartment. And maybe put up the winter curtains, and get some more reading done. I are busy.

I'm really digging this FMA: Brotherhood music. Despite being in the same orchestral-soundtrack vein as the older FMA soundtracks, it's got a very different sound from theirs (as it should, having been written by a different composer), and it's not really what I would have imagined for an adaptation of the manga, but there's some really gorgeous stuff in here.

*Okay, so the fever dreams weren't all bad. Like, I spent most of my time at home playing Layton, so I had one intricate Where's-Waldo-like vision in the Layton art style, and that was pretty cool. Still, I wouldn't exactly wish the other one where I was in Hell on anyone.
