I Love New Canon
Oct. 11th, 2006 03:50 amSo, L's real name? LAME.
That's not the name, I mean. That's just a quality that can be applied to the name. Granted, it's no Quillsh Wammy, nor is it Beyond Birthday. But, damn, other important characters got such nice names! Why couldn't he?
To be honest, I'm a little confused. For one thing, the katakana spells "Eru Rooraito," which, I'm not quite sure how you get "L. Lawliet" from that. Although it is kind of cool how similar his name is to Light's. But more importantly...is L just an initial, then? Why didn't they just give his whole name? Or was it meant to be "L: Lawliet," so he has only one name, like Cher? The other possibility is that L is, in fact, his real first name.
...
Nice to meet you. My codename is Diana. I can't tell you my real name, though; that's classified.
The careful observer (or anyone who read half the comments to any of the zillion posts on the DN communities today) will have also noticed that L's birthday is on Halloween. So cool!
Anyway. On to the Episode 2 Report.
This was a pretty neat episode. L showed up and pwned Light on national television, which was really hot. But the best part was Light's visually obvious transition from Pure Hilarious Crazy to Wobbly-Eyed Terror. In related news, I've just convinced myself that the song "Crazy," by Gnarls Barkley, is about Light and L.

"Look, Ryuk! I'm internet famous!"

"I guess I shouldn't let it get to my head, though."

"Oh, screw that. I'm internet famous! I can do whatever the hell I want!"

"I TOP YOU ALL"

"Wait...somebody doesn't worship me?"

"Well, I have a Death Note. Try to top that! You can't!"

"For I am Kira, the Evil Chipmunk, and I top all."

"I even top you! Yay!"

"Actually, it is you who is topped. I top you. You're an UKE!"

"I'm...an uke?"

"But...I'm not an uke..."

"Yes you are. You're a biiiiig uke."

"No...not an uke."

"LOL Uke!"

"That's it. You have messed with the wrong uke--I mean, guy!"

"Heh. Heh heh heh. Heh heh--Ryuk, quit looking at me like that; you're ruining the sinister mood."
