Death Note 99: Now with Teh Spoilers!!
So, okay, so my flaily post of delusion goes here, right? That's fair warning, I think; the rest of this post will be pretty full of crazy. Also denial.
Number One: Those picture spoilers didn't actually show any dead Mello. Also, the translation of the text spoiler was juuuuust vague enough--does Light actually know that Mello is dead, or does he just believe it? And who saw his name, anyway? Did Takada get the shinigami eyes when I wasn't looking? (Certainly possible, considering she apparently used or attempted to use the Death Note.) Because the only other people who have the eyes at the moment are Misa and Mikami, and I'm almost positive that Misa has never seen Mello. So it would have to have been Mikami. Was it Mikami? It would have to have been someone who had the eyes, because I don't think Light's dad ever even said the name out loud, and since he didn't finish writing it, they wouldn't have known how to spell it. It's not exactly the kind of name that has one obvious spelling. In conclusion, Mello? NOT DEAD. Edit:...well, fuck.
Number Two: Maybe Matt's not dead, I mean, maybe they just left him for dead. Sure, he's dead according to the text spoiler, but...maybe that was a translation error. Or, uh. I got nothing. Okay, sure, I'd be lying if I said I felt particularly attached to Matt. He's been in like four chapters and had no character development. But but but, he and Mello were going to be my new OTP! The one that was going to ease the pain of L's absence! NOW WHAT. I'm going to have to find a new, extra-strength OTP, one that can't possibly get jossed, and the only way to do that is for one of the people to be Light (I figure), but that doesn't work either, because Light gets all the people close to him killed! Also, L is really the only one for him. Ever. I don't even trust Light/Misa, because he will totally kill her the second she is no longer useful to him, and I don't care for the pairing anyway. It's just kind of sad.Now you just wait, he's going to lose the Death Note and the world will return to normal and he will forget everything and fall in love with Misa and they will be together forever GUH. In conclusion, Matt? ...okay, probably dead. Mello/Matt? WILL LIVE ON IN ALL OUR HEARTS. Edit: Dude, people can totally survive being turned into Swiss cheese by a firing squad. Matt will pull through, here. Right?
Number Three: You know what time it is now? TIME TO BRING L BACK. He is out there! I swear! Somewhere in secrecy! See, he became pretty confident that Light was Kira sometime in the late 50s, and then he took the opportunity to fake his death when Watari died. In the process, he discovered beyond all reasonable doubt that Light was definitely Kira, so now he's just biding his time. Biding. His. Time. And Mello's fake death is totally the right time for him to come back and kick Light's ass. I mean, we never saw his body. Okay, we did, but he wasn't necessarily dead. He might have been resting. Furthermore, we never saw him buried, and it's implied that not many people did (well, nobody did, but not many people are supposed to have been around for it). And, ooh, maybe Mello is going to go to where L is, and they're going to join forces, because that would be an indestructible force of pure awesome. And their relationship is going to be completely platonic, dammit, because L belongs to Light and Mello belongs to...uh...someone. Actually, I think it would be really cool if Mello developed some sort of feelings for L that were based in hero-worship but felt real, and oh hello plotbunny; it's too bad I'm such a flaky writer. In conclusion, L? NOT ONLY IS HE NOT DEAD, HE IS COMING BACK.
Number Four: Takada is dead. I mean, Light wrote her name in the note himself. It's kind of sad, because she was all right, and I really thought Light might have actually liked her. (Well, I don't know, maybe he did; after all, we know what he did to his entire family. And L.) In conclusion, Takada? Dead. Unfortunately. Oh, and by the way, the dying-in-a-fire thing? What the hell is wrong with you, Light?
In total conclusion, Takada is dead, and Matt probably is too, but Mello and L are alive and well (okay, so Mello's still scarred and L'spining for Light probably out of cake, but overall they're fine). Oh hey, check out the last seven words before the parentheses! I'm a poet and don't know it! Anyway, they're going to hook up in a completely platonic, brotherly fashion, and then they're going to WIN. So, Mello? ALIVE. L? ALIVE. ALIVE ALIVE ALIVE DAMMIT.
Edit: Okay, okay, fine, Mello's name was written out and everything, fine, WE GET THE POINT. Am not bitter. Rly.
Wait, the L-is-still-alive theory is still perfectly viable, though. Yay!
