So I'm at work right now, while the President's Holiday Party(tm) is still going on in the dining hall, and I wish I were still there. It's so pretty (even more like Hogwarts than usual), and the sweet potatoes are so good.
It was definitely more interesting this year than last year. There are speeches at the beginning of the meal, where the president and then the chaplain talk briefly about what exactly the President's Holiday Party(tm) is. This year, MBB, our president, called us fat, and then the chaplain, Dr. Wilson, told us we were undeserving of an education.
Well, not exactly like that. It was more along these lines, as close as I can remember them:
MBB: ...and we are coming to the end of the month of Ramadan. We can learn a lot from the Muslims, who have set it aside as a month of fasting...
Dr. Wilson (later): ...we are also thankful to be getting such a wonderful education, when there are so many others more deserving who do not...

octopedingenue has been a bit strapped for cash lately. She has decided, therefore, to stock up on food here to bring to the airport on Tuesday so she won't have to buy any there. This has involved, among other things, bringing a Tupperware container to the President's Holiday Party(tm) to fill with mini-quiches and the like. While she was off standing in the big-ass line to get her meal, MBB, who is very cool even if she does think we're fat, walked by and started talking to me and the others at the table. She complimented me on my Vixen t-shirt (we red classes have to stick together, after all). It wasn't until she left that I noticed the Tupperware container open in plain view on the table, with a selection of appetizers already inside.
In other news, there is no way in hell I will be able to finish both my math midterm and my Women in Music paper by Tuesday afternoon. Argh. I'm sorry, I just don't believe that if a relation is symmetric and transitive, it isn't necessarily reflexive. I just don't. And two of my friends in the class, whose intelligence I don't doubt for a second, agree with me. I'm currently entertaining the idea that maybe it's a trick question, and anyone who calls Myrtle Sr. on it will get full credit. The Fanny Hensel paper is not quite as frustrating, but I do wish my excellent primary sources weren't in German. It has been surprisingly easy to understand them, though; it just takes longer to get through them. Meh.
Gaaaaaah I feel ill. The Cheesecake Factory is a wonderful, wonderful place, but they just give ya too much damn food. I've still got about half a slice of tiramisu cheesecake with whipped cream in the fridge, along with half of my actual meal. I had fish tacos, which nearly gave Texas girl

clodia_risa's fiance, who is an odd fellow, decided indicated some obvious homosexuality on my part. I told him he was a silly person. Anyway, I was thinking maybe I could eat the rest of the cheesecake today, since I obviously can't leave it in there forever, but then they had to go and have both Mississippi Mud Pie and peanut butter cake in the dining hall at lunch. Crackwhores. And then of course there was the wonderful food tonight. So I'll just have to pray they have crappy desserts tomorrow.
Right, like I said before, I am at work, and should probably get back to doing something productive.
