This weekend
I saw Watchmen yesterday, and really enjoyed it. It was the perfect combination of circumstances: I'd read it exactly once, not too recently but also not too long ago (last September), and I'd liked it but it hadn't changed my life. Also, I'm easily impressed by adaptations where the actors really look like the characters. I'd heard horror stories about people laughing at completely inappropriate moments, but the audience in the theater where I saw it was pretty well-behaved.
I bought Fruits Basket 22 the other day. The guy on the cover is Tohru's father, in case you were wondering. I definitely was not sure about some of the people in the splash pages, though. And of course the latest chapters and the earliest chapters are completely unrecognizable as the same manga. But all the same, I can't believe it's almost over.
I made another cake this weekend, just for the hell of it and because I wanted to try making chocolate frosting. Holy crap, it was delicious. I was going to bring it to work, but then I took it to my parents' house and my dad ate like half of it, so now I really can't. I'll definitely make it again, though.

Area of opportunity: the uneven border. Area of strength: the obscenely smooth top. The filling between the two layers is frosting mixed with caramel topping, which turned out to be a really good idea. Also, I thoroughly mixed the crown I cut off one of the layers with some leftover frosting and caramel topping, and then put it in the fridge, and oh my god I can't believe food can taste so good.
