Multifandoming

This is really bad. I just watched the FMA OVAs; I can't do homework now!

All I can say about them at the moment is, expect to see new Hawkeye icons around here in the coming weeks. Maybe it's just that I watched the OVAs with [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue, who gets so enthusiastic about new FMA canon that she actually made watching the movie a pretty enjoyable experience, or maybe it's my love of the absolutely ridiculous (see: recent gushing post about Excel Saga), but oh hell did I ever have a good time with these. And maybe when I know what everybody's saying, I'll like them even more.

The other New Canon in my Fandoms that came out today was Death Note 103. Let me just say that these last five chapters or so have made reading the entire second arc worthwhile. I swear, watching Light trip and fall right on his pretty face was the funniest thing I had seen all week until the FMA OVA done entirely in chibi. Furthermore, I never thought I would be using this word to describe Near, but in these last couple chapters he has been absolutely badass. He showed up at his meeting with Light wearing L's face and backed by other badass people who also had guns, foiled Light's plan, made Light go insane and basically confess, got Mikami arrested, remained in the same calm sitting position while doing it all, and then politely introduced himself to Ryuk while chaos ensued. On a more serious note, it looks like we can just go ahead and officially add Mikami to the list of People Whose Lives Light Has Ruined. That part was really kind of sad.

With all that in mind, now was probably not the best time to obtain Firefly (after months of passively wondering whether anyone was just going to come along and drop it in my lap, I finally took the initiative!), but at this point there's not much I can do about that. Anyway, it's kind of a lot to watch in the middle of the week, but I did see the first half hour of the first episode--yes, the "real" first episode--and my reaction to it so far is damn, but that's some pretty music. More reactions to come, I'm sure. I have high hopes for Firefly.
